Clay R. Lowder, M.D.

Board Certified in Family Practice
Dr. Lowder graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1989. He received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina in 1993, graduating cum laude. He then completed his residency in the family practice program at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1996.
At USC, Dr. Lowder received the Family Practice Award as well as the Joan Kershner and Frank Farley Award for Leadership. He was the AOA Honor Society President from 1992 to 1993 and received the Dale Carnegie Award. Dr. Lowder is the team physician for the Wilson Hall School and is on the Tuomey Regional Medical Center Board of Directors.
He joined Colonial Family Practice because he loves people and appreciates the variety of people of various ages that are patients at CFP. He loves the family atmosphere and enjoys the opportunity to make his patients feel at home.
Dr. Lowder enjoys Sumter’s outdoor life with his sons, including hunting and fishing. He and his wife enjoy traveling and attending Clemson games. Dr. Lowder also enjoys coaching fast-pitch softball for his daughter’s team.

Dave Whaley, M.D.
Dr. Dave Whaley received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wake Forest University where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine then completed his residency in Richland Memorial Hospital Family Practice.
Dr. Whaley is certified in advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support and advanced life support in obstetrics. When he’s not practicing family medicine at Colonial Family Practice, he volunteers at the Columbia Free Clinic.

Mitch Grunsky, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine and Sleep Medicine
Dr. Grunsky earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. He received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina, where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Grunsky was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in medical school. He then completed his residency at Cabbarus Family Medicine in Concord, North Carolina, where he was chief resident.
Dr. Grunsky enjoys the variety of ages of patients he sees at Colonial Family Practice. He especially likes becoming part of his patients’ “extended family” as he cares for them throughout their lives.
In his personal life, Dr. Grunsky enjoys fishing and spending time with family and friends. He proudly serves as the team physician for the USC Sumter Fire Ants. Dr. Grunsky is active in the Trinity Methodist Youth Group.

Jason Leonard, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Jason Leonard received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. He completed his medical degree, with honors, from the University of Louisville. Dr. Leonard performed his residency at McLeod Family Medicine in Florence, South Carolina. He is board-certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Leonard appreciates the continuity of care afforded by Family Medicine, where he has the chance to make a positive difference throughout his patients’ lives. At CFP, he likes having the ability to see patients the same day and offer a wide spectrum of lab and diagnostic services in-house.
Dr. Leonard volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and has traveled for medical mission trips to Honduras and Jamaica. When he is not working, he enjoys playing tennis, including being part of the 2010 South Carolina State Champion Team Men’s Doubles. He was born and raised in Cincinnati but has lived happily in Sumter since relocating in 2007.

John K. Baker, M.D.
Dr. Baker received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He then performed his residency in neurology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Baker chose to specialize in neurology for several reasons, but one is because several of his family members suffered with neurodegenerative conditions, including an uncle and grandfather with Lou Gehrig's disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Dr. Baker is a native of Lancaster, and has spent most of his life in the Piedmont, Sand Hills and Midlands areas of South Carolina. He understands the needs of his neighbors in the Columbia, Camden, and Sumter areas and is ready to help those suffering from a wide variety of neurological symptoms, from neck pain to seizures. Dr. Baker is excited to join Colonial Family Practice and looks forward to bringing his expertise to the patients he serves.

Carrie Judy, M.D.

Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Carrie Judy received her bachelor of science in biology and chemistry from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Judy performed her residency at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where she was chief resident. She is board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Judy is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She appeared on “Mystery Diagnosis” on Discovery Health. She is the recipient of a Meritorious Service Medal and served in Iraq.
She enjoys caring for the whole person at Colonial Family Practice. Dr. Judy likes the small-town feel of the Sumter area. When she is not at work, Dr. Judy loves to spend time with her husband, daughter, three cats, and two dogs.

Thomas "Luke" Lucas, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Thomas “Luke” Lucas, M.D., earned a bachelor of arts in history and French from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He performed his residency at AnMed Health Family Medicine in Anderson, South Carolina. Dr. Lucas is board-certified in family medicine.
Dr. Lucas was a United States Peace Corps volunteer, and has volunteered at the Anderson Free Clinic. Dr. Lucas loves caring for the whole patient, from birth to old age. In family medicine, he says that there is never a dull moment and it offers ample opportunities for him to sharpen his professional skills. He feels that Colonial Family Practice provides a great work atmosphere with excellent colleagues and staff members.
Dr. Lucas loves the temperate weather and close-knit community of Sumter. He loves all things sports and the outdoors, though he likes to find time for a good book or HBO series, as well. Dr. Lucas loves to spend time with his beautiful wife, Rives, and their unusually handsome and brilliant sons, and beautiful daughter.

Chris Mahr, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Chris Mahr graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. He performed his residency in the Reading Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Mahr was the president of the Sumter, Lee and Clarendon Medical Society in 2010. He serves as the Medical Director of the Light of Hope Crisis Pregnancy Center.
He enjoys building lasting relationships with the families that he treats at Colonial Family Practice. Dr. Mahr appreciates the small tight-knit community in Sumter and likes working with the physicians and staff of CFP who are committed to providing excellent care.

Edward Meyers, M.D.
Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
Dr. Edward Meyers received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. He performed his residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Meyers originally chose to specialize in urgent care because of the variety of patients and complains. Now, he feels blessed and honored to be able to take care of the people of his community at Colonial Urgent Care.
A major in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Meyers served in Iraq before settling down in the Sumter area. Now he enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids, hunting and fishing.

Kristy Rollins, M.D.
Board Certified in Pediatrics
Dr. Kristy Rollins earned a bachelor of science in biology from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina, then completed her residency at USC and Palmetto Health. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and was the recipient of the Grace Steel Hawes Clinical Pediatric Fellow. Dr. Rollins is a board-certified pediatrician.
Dr. Rollins enjoys watching children grow up and getting to know their families as she treats them. She is involved in medical missions with her church and has traveled with them to Uganda. She loves the Gamecocks, spending time outdoors, and eating good food.

Carlos A. Soto, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Carlos Soto received his medical degree from the Universidad de Valle Cali-Columbia. He then attended the University of South Carolina before completing his residency at USC/Palmetto Health Richmond, where he was awarded Best Intern in 2004. He is board-certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Soto feels that Family Medicine is the specialty that provides continuous, comprehensive and holistic care to patients and their families. It encompasses all ages, both sexes, all organ systems and every disease. He enjoys working at CFP because it is a cutting-edge practice that uses many technologies to provide the best care for their patients.
Dr. Soto is active in the Good Samaritan Hispanic Clinic, performs active medical research at CFP and is a high school team physician. He loves the Gamecocks and spending time with his wife and son. Dr. Soto loves music, tennis, running and basketball.

Ike Stewart, M.D.
Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Ike Stewart received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Stewart performed his residency at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Stewart enjoys treating patients at Colonial Family Practice from infancy through adulthood. He likes being a part of the friendly and diverse community of Sumter. He especially appreciates the small town feel and lack of traffic!
Outside of work, Dr. Stewart loves following New England and Boston sports teams and Penn State football. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.

Rebecca I. Coleman, PharmD.
Rebecca Coleman graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Francis Marion University. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and won the Glaxo-Smith Kline Patient Care Award.

Rebecca enjoys being a pharmacist because it allows her to perform as a gatekeeper in patient care. Pharmacists are usually the last health care professionals patients see in their treatment process. Not only does she get to work closely as a team member with all health care providers at Colonial Family Practice, but she is readily available for our patients' needs.
By using Colonial Rx, not only will our patients benefit from time savings, but they will receive personalized treatment that only a pharmacy in this type of setting can provide. No 'assembly line' based business here! Rebecca is excited for the opportunity to serve a wide range of patients and to become a part of Sumter and the Colonial Family Practice family.

Andrew J. Fields, NP-C, DC
Dr. Andrew J. Fields earned his BA from The Citadel in Charleston, SC and a BSN, RN from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. He then attended Life University, in Marietta, GA where he received his DC, and his MSN at Samford University, in Homewood AL.
Dr. Fields is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by American Academy of Nurse Practitioner, and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Fields enjoys the breadth of family medicine, and loves being able to take care of just about every person that walks through the clinic door. He cherishes relationships with colleagues and patients, and is thankful for the privilege of having and earning patients’ trust each day. In addition to his work with Colonial Family Practice, he is currently a staff healthcare provider with the Columbia Free Medical Clinic.
Since moving from Spartanburg to Columbia in 1985, Dr. Fields has most enjoyed the friendly people, great food, local music, and the seasonal festivals of the midlands. He also loves spending time with his wife Becky and children Andrew and Elizabeth. They enjoy trips to the beach in the summer and mountains in fall and winter. His hobbies are fishing and shooting sports, along with a little guitar practice every day.

James Fields, NP-C, DC
Dr. James M. Fields is a College of Charleston Graduate earning his BS in Psychology, and his Bachelors of Nursing from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. He also received his Doctorate of Chiropractice from Life University in Marietta, GA and a Masters of Science of Nursing, FNP from Samford University in Homewood, AL.
Dr. Fields holds certifications from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
As a practicing chiropractor for the last 11 years, Dr. Fields wanted the ability to expand his scope of practice and help patients that were not receiving primary care. He returned to school to pursue his nursing degree, and advanced practice degree to accomplish that goal. He enjoys the full range of patients and conditions that are seen in a family practice, as well as taking care of the entire family. He is also a part-time staff provider for The Columbia Free Medical Clinic.
What Mr. Fields likes best about Columbia and the Midlands is its diversity. Columbia brings together an amazing amount of different groups from college students, to military families, to state and federal employees.
Dr. Fields has been married to his wife Danna for over 10 years. They have two boys Player, and Parker, and are expecting thier first girl. His hobbies include fishing, camping, water-sports, dirt-bike riding, and making crazy contraptions in the garage with my sons. Family is extremely important to him.
Dr. Fields would like patient’s to know that he has been providing patient care in Columbia for the last 11 years. He has a unique background that allows him to take care of patient’s with a holistic view, and he looks forward to being a part of patients’ lives, and helping them to a healthier lifestyle.

Charlotte Grecco, A.N.P.
Charlotte Grecco received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. She also earned her master of science in nursing from USC. She is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner.
Ms. Grecco is a member of the Honor Society of Nursing. She is a certified skincare specialist and certified in Botox® and Juvederm® injectibles. She wants to help women look and feel their best, inside and out. Ms. Grecco promotes good skin care, hormonal balance, nutrition, and exercise. She is proud of the highly skilled team of physicians and other providers at Colonial Family Practice.
Ms. Grecco is a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. She is a staunch supporter of animal rights and promotes pet adop
tion to save animals from euthanasia.

Cynthia Hutson, PA-C
Cynthia Hutson graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina with her bachelor’s degree. She then earned her physician assistant degree from South University in 2004. She has been a nationally board certified physician assistant since 2004.
Ms. Hutson is one of the founding members of the first women-only physician assistant organization in the U.S. – the WAPA in Savannah, Georgia. She has been a member of the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (SCAPA) since 2006.
She enjoys the challenge of treating diverse conditions at Colonial Urgent Care and wants her patients to feel they can always ask her questions. Ms. Hutson likes the availability of diagnostic testing in-house, since it speeds up her patients’ treatment.
Ms. Hutson loves spending with her family, including two dogs who think they rule the house. She loves watching and participating in sports and is a huge Carolina fan.

Kimberly Reisenauer, P.A.
Kimberly Reisenauer received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assisting from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Health Professions in Charleston, South Carolina. She received a Master of Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. At Colonial Family Practice, Ms. Reisenauer loves to take care of families, from babies to grandmas.

Hanna Sprott Rivers, F.N.P.
Hanna Sprott Rivers earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. She then received her master of science in nursing from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
She chose Colonial Family Practice for the chance to meet and care for a wide variety of patients. She enjoys serving the community in which she grew up here in Sumter.
Ms. Rivers loves spending time outdoors with her friends and family. Her activities include boating, tennis, traveling and rooting for Clemson football.
