• Records results on appropriate worksheet and computer system and performs file maintenance. Processes specimens for send-out testing.
• Maintains an adequate supply of reagents and consumables and maintains appropriate records. 
• Performs microscopic examination of urinary sediment as needed. Performs other testing as requested. Prepares reagents, stains, and other chemical solutions. Verifies all critical results and documents with accurate follow-up.
• Processes specimens for reference laboratory testing. Performs proficiency testing as needed. Analyzes quality control specimens daily to ensure proper resulting of patient samples. Records results of quality control samples daily. Follows defined protocol for investigating out-of-control runs and implements necessary remedial action. Records daily temperature and humidity readings.
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated. Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators, and reagents. Identifies troubleshooting procedures and calls technical service as needed.
